When the holidays started, I went to stay with my grandparents. They live in the countryside. It's the place where my great-grandparents lived a long time ago. I spent a big part of my summer there. I love to be with my grandparents. They give me lots of free time to play with other kids. I know most of the boys and girls in the village. We usually gathered for games in the afternoon. When it was too hot for football or other ball games, we played cards. The boys enjoyed it very much. But the girls didn’t. They said it was boring. Then, one day, the girls started a new game. Every afternoon they met up in a shed at Sandra's place. They dressed up as witches and wore pointed hats. They each had a broomstick and they even gave names to them. Lily's broomstick was called Hardbroom, Sandra's-Wickedbroom, and Olivia's - Nastybroom. Ava, who didn't want to be a bad witch named her broomstick Fairbroom. She said she had only good powers. She made up a spell for her little sister to keep away bad dreams. Her sister, Katie, repeated the magic words happily all day long and the whole thing looked a bit foolish. We missed the girls but they seemed to be happy without us- until one morning each boy got an invitation card to join in the Wizards and Witches' World. We decided to go and see what happens. The place looked really amazing. There were pictures and figures of black cats, toads, and owls in the shed. Sandra told us that those were the animals that could carry messages between a demon and a witch. There was a rounded pot in the corner, where they sat to work at their powers and tell stories. Olivia and Ava showed us their magic kits and read out some spells from their special spell book. Lily sounded quite frightening when she offered to turn me into a frog. We gave up playing cards and were carried away by the game. We put on our gowns and hats and gathered to tell each other scary ghost stories. Later in the evening we acted some of them out. Every morning we read books or browsed the Internet to get some new ideas for our game. I took up Harry Potter books. At the moment I'm in the middle of book six. You can’t stop reading them! We had a big family party on my mum's birthday. All my aunts, uncles, and cousins came over for a barbecue. When it got dark, the grown-ups took up singing by the fire. I put on my wizard's gown and hat and took my cousins to see our Wizards' and Witches' World. They thought it was terrific.
